The dog, along with a suitcase containing a pillow, dog toys and a bowl were found outside the train station in Ayr.

Scotland’s branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has taken control of the dog who has been named as Kai and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

The  SPCA  released a statement that said said: “Regardless of the act Kai was left with his belongings, this was a cruel incident and we are keen to identify the person responsible.”

Sold On Gumtree

Kai was found to be chipped and when the registered owners were called it transpired that the dog had been sold on Gumtree in 2013. The previous owners could not provide an address of Kai’s recent home.

Scottish animal health and welfare laws make abandoning a dog an offence. If caught, Kai’s owners could receive a life-long ban from keeping animals.

Pet Insurance can only wish the best for this poor guy. If you haven’t read our blog post on silly reasons to surrender animals, now might be more appropriate than ever.
